DIY Nest Table Decoration

This is a video tutorial of how to make a table decoration for your wedding.

Step-by-step instructions:

Step 1: Buy all your products

  • Balloons
  • Hemp or string (Walmart)
  • Fabric Stiffener (Michael’s Craft Store)
  • Spray Paint (If needed)

Step 2: Blow up balloon

Step 3: Start to wrap hemp around balloon. Start at the bottom of the balloon and begin to wrap in one direction. Make sure that your balloon is wrapped enough so when you pop the balloon it will hold together. If you have to you can wrap one direction with the hemp, cut it, and tie it. Then start a new piece in the opposite direction.

Step 4: Tie off the hemp once you have covered your balloon. A simple knot will do or you can weave the hemp in between the other pieces.

Step 5: Spray stiffener all over. You may use the spray, but make sure that you cover liberally. Another suggestion is to buy the liquid and dip the balloon in it. You may want to wear gloves and old clothes to make sure you don’t stain anything.

Step 6: Let dry for at least one hour. Check to see if the hemp is strong and stiff. If so, pop the balloon with a sharp object and there you go.

Other suggestions:

  • If you do not like the color of your hemp or string you can spray paint whatever color you would like it after the balloon has been popped. This also helps hold your nest better.
  • You can also decorate your nest with flowers of the accent color of your wedding.

Be Prepared On Your Big Day!

Ever imagine that something will break, rip, or spill on your wedding day, well I have got a list of supplies for you to have so nothing will ruin your day!

First, I would get a tackle box or Tupperware to keep all of your supplies in.

Items to have on you day:

  • Vaseline – To protect lipstick and soften any area that’s dry
  • Clothing Tape
  • Safety Pins
  • Bobby Pins
  • Nail Clippers
  • Tide-to-Go
  • Peroxide – To take out any blood stains
  • Band-Aids
  • Downy Wrinkle Release
  • Lint Roller
  • Whitening Strips
  • Lotion
  • Mini Sewing Kit
  • Razor
  • Make-Up Remover Pads
  • Super Glue
  • All Make-Up and Brushes
  • First Aid Kit
  • Listerine Pocket Breath Strips
  • Feminine Products
  • Sharpie – To write notes/reminders or cover up scuffs on a shoe
  • Tissues – For you and your bridesmaids to wrap around index finger and wipe away those tears of joy
  • Medication – This may include allergies, headaches, etc.

These are just some things to keep in mind to pack on your big day. Like I always like to say, it’s better to over prepare than under prepare.
