Ensure You Have A Fun Bachelorette Party

Have you ever wondered where you should have your bachelorette party? It is your last night out with all of your girls as a single lady and of course you want to make it special. There are many things you can do and many places you can go to have a great time.

Jessica Valdes, a newlywed, had difficulty in deciding where to go for her bachelorette party, but she knew one thing…she wanted to try something new.

Valdes did not have much planned out for her venue and decided to just go with the flow and go to dinner and country line dancing. She decided to have her bachelorette party at the Dallas Bull, a popular country club in Tampa and the surrounding area.

Before Valdes and her girls went out for the night they had a lovely dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen. At dinner they played a popular bachelorette card game which involved guessing what the bride-to-be would like most or would most likely do. Laughter filled the air as answers were being shouted out.cards

Following dinner they drove over to the Dallas Bull for country line dancing. They showed up a little too early, but this gave them time to get accustom to the atmosphere. It was out of everyone’s element but “it was fun trying something new,” said Valdes. They all had to learn the basic steps and get loose.

Erika Valdes, the maid of honor and sister of Jessica Valdes, said that her favorite part was “being together with my family and seeing my sister get loose and have fun the day before she got married.”

Tiffany Thenor, a newlywed and bridesmaid of Jessica Valdes, also attended the bachelorette party and she liked that there was a “lingerie shower the same night as the bachelorette party because it was convenient for all of the girls.”

The bachelorette party ended with all the girls sleeping over. The party would continue into the next day decorating for the wedding and getting their nails and toes done.

There were a few things, according to Erika Valdes, that every bride-to-be should do for her bachelorette party.

“The first thing that anyone should do is plan. Don’t just show up somewhere and expect a party. It may turn out to be a dud,” said Erika Valdes.

Erika Valdes also suggested taking a lot of pictures because it will be a day you will want to remember and look back on. The last piece of advice from Erika Valdes was to “just have fun. Don’t worry about looking silly.” Being silly is the best part of being at a party. Loosen up and be you.

Other ideas about different venues from these women were: a beach bar, spa, road trip, or cruise. There are plenty of other places to go for your bachelorette party as well. You can check out more ideas here.

Just remember to plan ahead, take pictures, and have fun with all of your girls on your last single day.

On A Budget?…You Can Still Make Your Wedding Look Like A Million Dollars

Many women, who plan their wedding on a low budget, are worried that their wedding will look cheap. I am here to tell you that there are many things that you can do to make your wedding look like a million dollars from decorations to entertainment.

Here are a few ways that you can cut down your budget but make sure that the wedding still runs smoothly and looks great:

  1. Your DJ.
  2. Your decorations.
  3. Your favors.
  4. Your photographer.

For your DJ, you can use programs on your computer and do it yourself. One program that I know of is Spotify. Do not wait to the last minute to do this because you will have to think of all the songs. Get the premium version so you have no commercials and just add songs to your playlist. Have a family friend volunteer to make sure everything runs smoothly. This will be a lot cheaper than a DJ and you get to pick your own songs.

For your decorations, you can make pretty much all of them. If your wedding is outside you can build your own arch. If you want to have a photo booth you can make that too whether it’s more shabby chic or simple. You can also make your own centerpieces, table numbers, and much more. Just be creative! 1-16-12-piper_0072-copy

For your favors, you do not want anything too big and expensive so turn to Pinterest. They have a lot of ideas from homemade preserves for a more rustic wedding to making your own mini wine bottles.

The last thing that you can do to cut back and still have a great wedding is on your photographer. They can be really expensive and this decision is all up to you. You can pay to have a really nice photographer or you can count on some of your guest to take great pictures and send them to you through Facebook or Instagram. You can even make your own hash-tag.

Pictures last you a lifetime so you may want to pay for a photographer for the ceremony and then have your friends for the reception and cut back just a little.

Also check out my Pinterest for more decoration ideas!

I hope these tips may help you and any feedback on what you would like to hear more about would be greatly appreciated.

Want Your Wedding To Stand Out?…Try Something Different

I think every woman wants their wedding to be special and different even if they don’t want to admit it. Many of us have been to tons of weddings in our life and we have seen the best and the worst, so you think how could you top that?

There are several things that you can do to make your wedding different or unique. (In a good way of course).

guest book 1

One thing that comes to my mind is the guest book. Most weddings just have a sign in book, nothing too special…here is your opportunity. Make it special!

Here are some interesting guest book ideas that you may want to try. Have guests sign:

  • Jenga pieces. Use the game later and remember all those favorite guests of yours.
  • Their initials on the date of their birthday in a calendar. Now you have everyone’s birthday!
  • Stones. Keep the stones in a pretty vase and display in your new home.
  • Their initials next to their favorite Bible verse.
  • A photo album with pictures of your engagement.
  • A homemade sign, but have them sign with their thumbprint and initials.
  • A quilt. This is great for larger weddings with a lot of guests.

This is just one way to spice up your wedding, but there are plenty of other unique things you can do. For example, the table numbers, decorations, and favors. I will be posting more about these soon!

I would love to hear feedback of some things what women want to know more about out there.

Is He “The One”?…

Is he “the one”? Many women who are dating, most likely in a serious relationship, ask themselves that question.”The one” is a big term that should be used carefully because when you use it you are most likely referring to this person as the one you want to be with the rest of your life. This is the one who you would die for and go through any hardship with. The big concern that women have is knowing if he is “the one”.

Katelyn Goglia, a senior at Southeastern University and a newlywed, knew she had “the one” because, “he is the only person in the world who truly understands every aspect of my personality. We get each other, and it’s as simple as that!”

The big concern of women who are dating or soon to be dating is knowing if he is “the one”.

“The one” is different for everyone because we all have different likes and dislikes, but the question is he “the one” still there.

Some women know they have “the one” because they have grown up with together, but others meet in high school, college, or even later on in life.

For Goglia, she met her husband when she was in high school on a vacation with her family in Marco Island. She lived in Wisconsin and he lived in Connecticut, but the distance did not stop them. They dated for a year and a half and ended up at the same college and are now married.

For Tiffany Thenor on the other hand, an elementary school teacher in Lakeland, FL and newlywed, she found her husband in her last years of college. It wasn’t until after she graduated that she began dating her husband.

Thenor said, “[when] we started dating I knew almost immediately I would marry him. He was my first and only boyfriend.”

No matter if you know if he is the one early, like Thenor, or you date for a while, like Goglia, before you still need to understand each other. As you spend more time together you will understand that. If he is “the one” he will understand you. This is not just the only thing in determining if he is “the one” of course.

Some things that you should or may feel when finding “the one” are:

photo (2)

  • Comfort
  • Confidence (that he is here for you)
  • Peace
  • Vision (for the future)

These are by no means the only things that you should or may be feeling, but these are the things that are common to these women as well as others.

The way that Thenor described her feelings was just that she knew. Having that “knowing” feeling is another way to know if he is “the one”. You are confident and have no second guesses because you know that this man was placed on this earth for you.

Sarah Cogswell, an elementary school teacher in Lakeland, FL and a newlywed, suggests that one seeks God to find out who “the one” is for them. Cogswell had written a list of things she wanted in a man, but God told her to seek more of Him so that is what she did.

Cogswell said, “after I began to seek God more about my future husband, he led me to Psalm 45 and also showed me other characteristics that my husband would have. I figured that if God created me and knows every detail in His plan for me, He also knew who my husband would be,” said Sarah.

There are two books that are highly recommended to women about themselves and their love story by these newlyweds: Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge and When God Writes Your Love Story by Eric and Lesley Ludi.

Knowing if he is “the one” is a complex thing to explain, but if he is “the one” it should not be complicated at all. You should just know.

Wedding Make-up

I know that many brides have no idea what to do with their make-up for their big day. Make-up is a very important aspect because you want to look good in your photos because those will last a lifetime.

All of us our beautiful inside and out, but I know we all want to look extra special on our big day.

The cost of getting your make-up done by a professional is quite expensive so many of us turn to the famous YouTube.

One of my friends is an amazing make-up artist and she did her own makeup for her wedding. Her husband is great with video so the two came together and they made a video of the wedding day make-up. Check it out!

I hope you enjoy. Feel free to comment!

Finding the Right Venue

Having an indoor or an outdoor wedding or reception is a big decision to make. The recent theme over the past year is the “barn wedding”, but what is the right venue for you?

There are a lot of things that one needs to consider when choosing a venue for their wedding or reception. Some but not all include:

  • The size of the venue. You need to make sure that all of your guests fit in the venue and that it is not too cramped or too spacious.
  • Privacy. Take into consideration your surroundings and where your reception is taking place.
  • Lighting. Make sure that your venue is well lite. You do not want to feel like you are in Hollister where you cannot see six feet in front of you.
  • The acoustics or sound system of the venue. One thing that people love to do at a wedding is dance and you need to make sure that the sound system works properly and produces good quality sound.
  • The dance stage. Is it going to fit all of the guests? Do you want a dance stage?
  • Has the right theme. If you are looking for a more rustic wedding with fall colors you may want your venue outside or if you are looking for a more traditional venue maybe look for something indoors.

The barn wedding has become very popular and booming on Pinterest and elsewhere over the past year. Many people love the           rustic theme with the burlap and peach color scheme.

Jessica, a newlywed, went along the lines of a “barn wedding” and had her reception on her parents’ farm. She had her ceremony in a traditional white church up on a hill.

Some women, like Jessica, know exactly where they want their wedding and reception to be. “Choosing a wedding venue was by far the easiest component to plan”, said Jessica, “mostly because I knew where I wanted to get married at since I was about 13 years old.” Jessica’s reception was under a canopy of lights with the dance floor underneath and tables surrounding it for all the guests.

Other women are unsure yet of where they want their wedding and reception. It is okay if you are not engaged yet or newly engaged,

Many women fight with the decision of having their wedding and/or reception indoors or outdoors. Some fear that the weather will ruin their big day. That it will be too hot or too cold. “Inside is more predictable”, said Kendra, a bride to be, “It would have to be perfect weather for my wedding to be outside.”

What state are you in? If you are in a state that has very unpredictable weather, like Florida, you may want an indoor wedding.
There are definite pros and cons to having an indoor versus and outdoor wedding, but as the bride it is ultimately your decision. Here are a few things to look at when deciding whether to have your wedding and/or reception outdoors or indoors:

  • What time of year is your wedding going to take place?
  • What kind of theme is your wedding?
  • What season is it? If you have allergies this may be a big factor in deciding where your wedding/reception will be.

These are just a few things to consider when picking out your venue whether it is indoors or outdoors. Just remember that this is your big day so you make all the decisions and do what you want to do.

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to my blog All Things Wedding. I am646_wedding so excited to be creating my first wedding blog because it is one of my biggest passions. Even though I have never been in a wedding, had my own wedding, or help plan a wedding I still love them.

I am currently a college student at Southeastern University and will be graduating in 2014 with a degree in Journalism and Public Relations. My dream is to be a wedding planner which is one reason I have started this blog. I am no expert, but I hopefully will be someday.

Oh, did I mention I LOVE weddings! Many of you may be thinking that I am pretty into weddings even though I do not know much about them, but don’t worry I already have mine all planned out! You can check out my board on Pinterest.

I want all the feedback and constructive criticisms you have for me as I discuss everything about weddings from the location to the little things.

I hope you all find my blog interesting and exciting. I will try my best to appeal to everyone (except the guys may have a little difficulty) but any who here it is…All Things Wedding. ENJOY!
